The word Yoga has its roots in the Sanskrit language and means to merge, join, or unite. Yoga is the oldest physical discipline in existence and is based on the belief that the body and the breath are intimately connected with the mind. Yoga promotes a healthy lifestyle through the use of movement, breath, relaxation, and meditation and it is a very effective tool for balancing and harmonizing the body, our emotions, and for finding a quiet space within.
A beginner yoga class will introduce students to fundamental poses, or asanas, and emphasize the correct form and body alignment for each of those poses. Asanas will be practiced in a systematic way with the intent of stretching and toning muscles, enhancing flexibility of connective tissues, and improving blood circulation. After your first class, you can expect to experience a sense of total body relaxation and heightened energy.
