Traditionally, yoga was taught as a one-on-one practice. As yoga is a personal journey, private sessions provide a friendly and intimate setting in which the student's individuality can be honored and celebrated. Using an approach that is gradual and gentle, private instruction focuses on sequencing postures and breathing exercises in a way that is highly therapeutic and meets specific physical and psychological needs. Attentively guided by verbal instruction, demonstration, and hands-on adjustments, students will discover how core and muscle strength, stamina, range of motion, and flexibility can be developed in a way that is relevant to their own body, life experience, and personal goals.
Aside from transforming exercise into an empowering and enjoyable experience, private yoga sessions allow certified instructors to evaluate each student's health and fitness, injuries, health conditions, and personal goals and to design a personalized program that they can eventually practice on their own. Moreover, private instruction provides students with a solid knowledge of yoga's fundamental poses, or asanas, and of the correct body alignment for each of those poses, thereby preparing students to easily and safely transition from a private to a group setting.
